An Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) is a "simulator" of sorts, authorized by the FAA for flight training. This training can be logged and counted toward the aeronautical experience required for most ratings and certificates. It must meet very specific requirements, such as largely resembling the class of aircraft to be simulated. It’s not a full motion simulator but resembles a real aircraft enough to be able to perform typical procedures. They are much less expensive to fly than the real airplane. AATD time is NOT flight time! It does however count toward the aeronautical experience hours you are required to have for a particular rating or certificate. Read the AATD regulations below.
No. I am no longer doing flight training in airplanes or helicopters, thus not doing any of the required FAA endorsements for check rides. I specialize in instrument currency & proficiency training in my AATD and conduct powered paraglider trike training and transitions. I am available for ground school consultations at all levels.
A Hobbs meter is a type of clock or time meter found in most aircraft. It is used to count the time used by the customer during flight instruction in tenths of an hour. They may be set up several ways, but most are only running when the engine is running. An AATD hobbs is running when the aircraft is powered. You may have an hour and a half flight lesson including ground school, but the Hobbs only ran an hour while the aircraft engine was running, or power was on. Most flight school aircraft work this way. In some cases we simply use a stop-watch to record the time.
Absolutely! You can "fly" it as much as you want to! All the learning counts! Only the Aeronautical Experience in excess of the FAA maximum won’t count towards certificates and ratings.
A simulator has to meet certain motion and visual requirements for realism, while representing the actual type of aircraft, rather than just the class. Simulators also have a motion platform. An AATD is generally static but they may have motion.
Randy accepts cash or Visa & MasterCard. No checks or cash apps please.
AATD: Under most circumstances, these flights are pay as you go, at the end of the lesson. We do not offer block time. Refunds are not required or offered.
POWERED PARAGLIDING: For introductory instructional flights we will refund your purchase only if WE cancel your flight. This may happen for a variety of reasons including pilot illness, weather, maintenance, etc. If WE cancel you will have the option to remain on the flight list and wait for the next available slot, or have your money fully refunded. If YOU cancel there will be NO REFUND! If you elect to reschedule this policy starts anew. WE DO NOT PROMISE SPECIFIC FUTURE DATES (Like a birthday) AND REFUNDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF YOU CANNOT FLY ON A SPECIFIC DATE!
For full courses and transitions, if WE have to cancel your course you may opt to reschedule or receive a full refund. If YOU cancel a FULL 7 DAYS prior to the start of the course, you may receive a full refund. Any cancellation with less than 7 FULL days will result in forfeiture of your deposit, but the remainder will be refunded. If you elect to reschedule this policy starts anew.
Marker Inbound Flight Training will only train U.S. citizens or legal residents. But you must meet the identification requirements set forth by the Transportation Security Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration. A green card will also be required if you are not a U.S. citizen.
There are no residency or ID requirements (Other than age.) for powered paraglider training.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE!
Marker Inbound Flight Training's HQ is in Fishers, IN. Our AATD is located here. All* powered paragliding instruction will take place at Indianapolis Regional, Noblesville, or Boone County airports.
*Training is often scheduled at special events and fly-ins. If your training is to be conducted at one of these events, you will know ahead of time. If an event cancellation takes place, you will have the option to stay on the flight list for a slot at one of our main locations.
Once we receive your payment you will be sent a link and 2 liability release forms via email. The link will take you to the required safety and education briefing. You will read over the material and answer one simple (If you read the material!) quiz question. Once you text us the answer to the quiz, we place you on the flight list.
As the weather looks good a few days out, we start calling down the list. If we call you and you can take the slot we offer, GREAT! Let's fly! If not, I simply call you next time.
While we can try to accommodate specific dates, the chances of the weather (And everything else!) falling into place is a risky proposition. WE DO NOT PROMISE SPECIFIC FUTURE DATES AND REFUNDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF YOU CANNOT FLY ON A SPECIFIC DATE!
